Categories: Conferences & Seminars

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Ramaiah Institution of Legal Studies (RILS) – A unit under MS Ramaiah Foundation is a Law college in Bangalore under the visionary of Dr. M R Pattabiram.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

Women’s rights are the rights and the entitlements claimed for women and girls worldwide and formed the basis for the women’s rights movement in the nineteenth century and feminist movement during the 20th century.

In some countries, these rights are institutionalized or supported by law, local custom, and behaviour, whereas in others they are ignored and suppressed.

Although women have made clear that they have the ability to perform with the same skill and success in every endeavour engaged in by men, the issue of sex discrimination still holds many back.

Today, sex discrimination has been the dominant issue for women commonly associated with notions of women’s rights which include the right : to bodily integrity and autonomy, to be free from sexual violence, to vote, to hold public office, to enter into legal contracts, to have equal rights in family matters, to work, to fair wages or equal pay, to have reproductive rights, to own property, to education.

Hence, with this viewpoint, Ramaiah Institute of Legal Studies invites a comprehensive research paper from the Students, Academicians, Advocates, Sociologists, Political Researchers et al to present their opinion and research works on the theme: “ Women in contemporary society.”
