“Individually, we are very clean, but collectively there is so much dirtiness,’’ said a bench of Chief Justice Pradeep Nandrajog & Justice Nitin Jamdar. The court’s observations came after it disposed of a public interest litigation on traffic congestion in market areas of South Mumbai, including Crawford Market.

Giving an illustration, the bench said homes in jhuggis (slums) are well kept, but outside them the scene is “horrible”.

“Posh (housing) colonies are no different,’’ the CJ added. Earlier, government pleader Poornima Kantharia said from time-to-time, action is taken against illegally parked vehicles. “The authorities have taken steps necessary against violations & are regulating the same,’’ she added.
