The High Court of Allahabad has ordered Police to find a girl who was abducted from a lawyer’s chamber in front of the High Court on April 20, after she petitioned for protection from her family members & others as they were against her marriage to a man from the other backward class (OBC).
Taking a serious note of the abduction just before her Court appearance, Justice Umesh Kumar said “it is very surprising & unfortunate that in front of the high court, miscreants abducted the girl from the chamber of the advocate forcefully”.
Justice Kumar directed the Prayagraj senior SP and Jaunpur SP to take action & produce her before the Court on May 17.
The girl from the Jaunpur district had sought protection after she recently married an OBC man against her family’s wishes & feared for her life as her relatives were displeased with her decision to marry a man from a different caste. At the hearing on April 8, her family members alleged that the man had abducted the girl. After this, the court decided to hear the girl’s version & asked her to appear before it on April 20. But more than 20 “miscreants” took away the girl from the lawyer’s chamber that day, allegedly at the father’s behest. When the court was informed about it, it directed the husband who is the second petitioner in the case to move an application before the appropriate authority for action.
