Lawyer Ankani Biswas, a transgender person, has been empanelled as an advocate for the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) of West Bengal.
The decision was taken by Calcutta High Court Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal who is also the patron-in-chief and executive chairperson of West Bengal State Legal Services Authority. Advocate Biswas will be the first Transgender person to be empanelled as a lawyer in the SLSA panel.
About State Legal Services Authority State Legal Services Authority is headed by the Chief Justice of the State High Court who is its Patron-in-Chief.
