The Telangana High Court has taken a significant step towards modernizing its operations by adopting a hybrid model for court proceedings, effective from September 1. This innovative approach aims to combine virtual and physical modes of hearing to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and convenience for all stakeholders involved in legal proceedings.

The High Court's administrative wing has introduced this hybrid model to facilitate both virtual and in-person court hearings, marking a transition towards paperless courts and expediting the delivery of justice. This move comes after the success of the virtual mode of hearings, which was initially implemented to address the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In a notification issued by the High Court registrar, it was announced that all the courts of the Telangana High Court would be adopting the hybrid model, enabling participants such as learned advocates, government pleaders, standing counsel, parties-in-person, and other stakeholders to engage seamlessly through both virtual and physical means.

The administrative wing of the Telangana High Court has also provided web links and meeting IDs for each judge's court, allowing easy access to the proceedings for all concerned parties. This forward-looking approach aligns with the broader goal of harnessing technological advancements to modernize and streamline court operations while ensuring the swift dispensation of justice.

Initially introduced in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the virtual mode of hearing gained popularity among legal professionals who found it to be a time-saving and cost-effective alternative. Acknowledging the benefits of virtual hearings, even senior advocates from different parts of the country had expressed their preference for this mode of participation.

The Telangana High Court's decision to adopt a permanent hybrid model demonstrates its commitment to embracing technological innovation to improve the legal process. By providing a choice between virtual and physical appearances, the High Court aims to accommodate diverse needs while maximizing the utilization of digital platforms for court proceedings.
