On Friday, the Supreme Court has issued a Circular announcing that the Court is going to mbe closed for Summer Vacation rescheduled for 22nd June and 3rd July while at the same time shall continue hearing of urgent matters during it.
The Circular states that during the first week of the Summer Vacation, i.e. from 22nd to 26th June, two Division Benches, one Court of Judges-in-Chamber and one Registrar Court shall conduct hearings of urgent cases registered via Video Conferencing/Tele-conferencing.
In the second week, i.e. from 29th June to 3rd July, two Benches in the whole week (30th June and on 3rd July ) will conduct hearings via Video Conferencing/Tele-conferencing mode.
The Circular mentioned that the existing 'Standard Operating Procedure' for Advocates and party-in-person uploaded on the website on 14th June shall continue to apply for listing and hearing of matters before the Hon'ble Judge-in-Chamber and Ld. Registrar Court.
New matters which have been filed upto 19th June, which are mentioned on e-mail address 'mention.sc@sci.nic.in' upto 5pm on a particular day, for urgent listing, may be processed for the same on next to next working day, subject to the directions of the competent authority and availability of Bench as per roster.
However, any after notice matter which is mentioned for early listing on the ground of urgency can be placed before the Ho'ble Judge having coram and the same may be listed to acceptance of above request, provided the Bench of Hon'ble Judge is available during vacations.
The matters which are mentioned online for the listing before Vacation Courts on the ground of urgency will be placed before the competent authority and only after approval, it may be processed for listing before the Court as per direction/roster and also subject to availability of Bench.
Though, the matter of extreme urgency shall be dealt with by the Vacation Officer/Registrar as per prevailing practice/guidelines.
During the break, the Filing Counter will be closed and filing of documents will be allowed through e-filing. However, Registry can open it in case of extreme exigency.
