In a landmark judgment delivered on Tuesday, the Adoor Fast Track Special Court sentenced a 26-year-old man, Sudheesh from Parakode in the Alappuzha district of Kerala, to 45 years of rigorous imprisonment for molesting a kindergarten student. The court's decision reflects a firm stance against such abhorrent crimes and sends a resolute message of deterrence to potential offenders.

The unfortunate incident occurred in 2019 when the young victim, a lower kindergarten (LKG) student, was targeted during her parents' absence. Sudheesh, the perpetrator, took advantage of the situation and molested the innocent child. The gravity of the offense led the court to impose a rigorous imprisonment term of 45 years on Sudheesh, emphasizing the severity of the crime committed.

In addition to the prison sentence, Sudheesh has been ordered to pay Rs 2 lakh as compensation to the survivor. This financial penalty seeks to provide some semblance of justice and support to the victim and her family as they navigate the aftermath of this distressing incident.

However, the court did not limit its condemnation to the perpetrator alone. The survivor's mother was reprimanded for concealing the incident, underlining the importance of reporting such offenses promptly to ensure the swift administration of justice. The child's father also faced legal repercussions for attempting to hide the matter from authorities and received a six-month imprisonment sentence. Nonetheless, considering the time he had already served during the pre-trial period, he was released.

Furthermore, the court has recommended that the legal services authority take charge of all the necessary expenses for the rehabilitation of the survivor, emphasizing the need for comprehensive support and care to aid the child in overcoming the traumatic experience.

Cases like these serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing battle against crimes targeting minors. In a related incident, a 13-year-old girl who had been subjected to sexual abuse by her own father fell victim to a gang rape orchestrated under the guise of rescue.
