A Constable of Delhi Police was caught red-handed while demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The accused, Amit Lahucha, was taking the bribe on behalf of an inspector, the CBI alleged.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has filed an FIR against the constable & the inspector after receiving a complaint that they had demanded Rs 4.5 lakh from the complainant & later settled for Rs 4 lakh.

A CBI spokesperson said that The complainant was a witness in a case of impersonation. He was allegedly threatened that he would be named as an accused in a supplementary charge-sheet to be filed soon.

The complainant approached CBI & a trap was laid at Bhubaneswar Airport & the accused was caught red-handed. Searches are being conducted at the premises of the accused, who will be produced before the court in Bhubaneswar soon. The accused cop had gone to Bhubaneswar without any permission from seniors, sources said.
