A legal battle between television journalist Anjana Kashyap and popular educator Khan Sir has reached the Delhi High Court, with Kashyap and TV Today Network filing a civil defamation suit seeking ₹2 crore in damages. The suit alleges that a coordinated online campaign involving educators, social media accounts, and a news platform caused serious harm to their reputation and compromised their family's privacy.
The dispute traces its origins to a television debate aired on May 29, 2026, during which Kashyap discussed the growing influence of online educators and concerns surrounding the commercialisation of education. According to the plaintiffs, the discussion was followed by a series of videos, social media posts, and online broadcasts directed against Kashyap and TV Today Network.
The suit names Khan Sir, educators Abhinay Sharma, Babita Tyagi and Arvind Bhadauriya, several social media handles, and a digital news platform as defendants. The plaintiffs allege that the defendants used their online reach to circulate derogatory remarks and launch a sustained campaign aimed at damaging their credibility. The suit further claims that details relating to Kashyap's child, including information about the child's school, were publicly disclosed despite having no connection with the underlying debate, thereby exposing the family to unwanted attention and security concerns.
The matter has now been placed before the Delhi High Court, where the plaintiffs contend that the controversy crossed the line from criticism into defamation and invasion of privacy. In their pleadings, they have alleged that the campaign subjected them to “insults, ridicule, contempt and public hostility” through abusive and defamatory content circulated across various platforms. They further claim that the actions caused reputational injury, emotional distress, and concerns for the safety and well-being of family members. Through the suit, Kashyap and TV Today Network have sought damages of ₹2 crore.
The Delhi High Court is yet to examine the merits of the allegations and consider the reliefs sought.
