The Central Government of India has assented for the appointment of Justice Ponugoti Naveen Rao, senior-most Judge ofthe Telangana High Court as the acting Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
The notification issued by the Law Ministry notifies that “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Ponugoti Naveen Rao, senior-most Judge of the Telangana High Court to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from the date Shri Justice Ujjal Bhuyan relinquishes the charge as Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court upon his appointment as a Judge of the Supreme Court of India. Consequent upon superannuation of Shri Justice Ponugoti Naveen Rao on 14.07.2023, Shri Justice Abhinand Kumar Shavili, the senior-most puisne Judge of the High Court ofTelangana will perform the duties of the office ofthe Chief Justice ofthe High Court of Telangana.”
