In an attempt to murder 3 members of a rival gang a man wielded a machete on the Judicial Magistrate Court premises in Madhavaram.

Police overpowered the man & stopped the attempted attack, but the man managed to escape on a friend’s bike.

On Tuesday night, police had arrested a 3-member gang of Loganthan, Vignesh & L Yuvaraj for attacking 2 men leaving them severely injured in a drunken brawl at a Tasmac shop. They were to be produced before a magistrate in Madhavaram Court when the incident happened. The trio were a murder case accused. While the policemen & the 3 men alighted from the vehicle, a man who had hidden a machete tried to attack. Later police nabbed him with the help of CCTV camera footage.

The arrested were identified as M Santhoshkumar, 38, and P Vigneshwaran, 39, of Mathur. Police also seized 1.5kg of ganja from the duo. Santhoshkumar is a history-sheeter who has 2 attempt-to-murder cases, two ganja & an assault case in Kodungaiyur police station limits. Santhoshkumar was from the rival gang. He was attacked by the trio in a drunken brawl last week, police said after which he was planning a revenge attack.
