Ropar, Punjab: An elderly woman was rescued from her own home in Ropar after being allegedly beaten by her son, his wife & their son.

The elderly woman's daughter alerted the police to the alleged abuse, providing them with video evidence of the assault captured by CCTV cameras installed in the house.

The accused, Ankur Verma, a lawyer by profession, was seen mercilessly thrashing his mother in the CCTV footage.

Following the incident, the police arrested Verma & charged him under Sections 327 (Voluntarily causing hurt to extort property), 342 (wrongful confinement), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code & Section 24 of the Maintenance & Welfare of Parents & Senior Citizens Act.

Upon examination at a hospital, doctors found multiple bruises on the victim's body, indicative of the severe physical abuse she had endured.
