Law has now become one of the most preferred career option, says Home Minister.
On Saturday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that the work is in process to formulate a comprehensive litigation policy that will ensure fast, cheap and easy justice.He further added that there were about four lakh prison inmates in country of which, the under trials account for about two-third.
Rajnath Singh enunciated that his Ministry has written letter to all the Chief Ministers give suggestion that all the under trials who are accused of minor crimes and have served half of their maximum imprisonment should be released.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also expounded that the Partition of the country on the religious lines was " highly unfortunate".
To this he added that the Government was taking active steps towards implementation of the Indian Citizenship (Amendment) Bill so that the large number of minorities who coming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, have either their passports expired or do not have have passports.
The Bill will give such people shelter.
Singh added that Law has now become one of the most preferred career option and situation has drastically changed from earlier times with number of law colleges increasing upto 1,500.
