Law Minister Mr. Kiren Rijiju responded to a query pertains to filing of PIL’s that the Allahabad High Court witnessed the largest number of PILs filed over the last three years (11,334), followed by the High Courts of Madras (8,083), Patna (2,191) and Odisha (2,173).
The Question was asked by the member of Rajya Sabha Mr. Neeraj Shekhar about details of the number of PILs filed during 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 and PILs disposed off out of the above and number of pending PILs as on date.
Law Minister responded that Allahabad High Court is on the top of the list in filing the PIL’s followed by High Courts of Madras Patna and Odisha.
In response of disposal rates, the Law Minister replied that the High Court of Odisha is leading with 2,925 cases disposed of, out of the 2,173 that were filed. The High Court of Patna follows, with 2,155 cases disposed of and 2,191 new cases filed.
The data of High Courts does not include High Court of Delhi.
