May 22, 2019:
Acting Chief Justice Raghavendra Singh Chauhan of the Telangana high court has stayed the online admission initiated by the state government in degree colleges — both private and government.
Scores of private colleges approached the high court contending that the centralised counselling would take away their right and render them helpless. The CJ, while issuing notices to the government and education department authorities, stayed the process.
However, he made it clear that the admissions made by private colleges this year would be subject to the final judgment. Justice Chauhan also directed the private colleges to inform this to the students and obtain an undertaking from them that they were made aware of the fact their admission would be subject to the outcome from these writ petitions.
