A Division Bench of the Madras High Court, comprising of Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee and Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy has extended the duration of Remand, Bails, Paroles, and Interim order which ends on April 30 to June 30.

"Since it may not be able to produce remand prisoners under Sections 167 or 307 CrPC before courts either in -person or via VC, all remands stand extended till June 30.”

The Court has passed this Order by exercising its power under Section 226 and 227 read with Section 482 and 483 of CrPC and Section 151 of CPC.

Highlights of the Order :

The interim orders passed by the Madras High Court both at the Principal Seat and the Madurai Bench subsisting on April 30 shall stand extended till June 30, unless vacated or modified earlier, or judicial order to the contrary Orders of dispossession, eviction, demolition not executed till date shall remain in abeyance till June 30 unless the stay is expressly vacated or expressly modified by the forum.

All orders passed by Courts having criminal jurisdiction having granted bail, anticipatory bail, or parole, etc. for a limited period which is likely likely to expire on or before June 30, 2020, shall stand extended to June 30, 2021, subject to orders passed by relevant for an even prior to the expiry of such date or thereafter, to enable the Courts to deal with any abuse of orders.
