The President of India has assented to the appointment of three additional judges to the Gauhati High Court.
The notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice has notified that ‘In exercise of the power conferred by clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint
(1) Smt. Susmita Phukan Khaund and
(2) Smt. Mitali Thakuria,
to be Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court, in that order of seniority, for a period of two years, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices’.
The High Court of Gauhati had a sanctioned strength of 24 judges.
