The e-committee of Supreme Court has released Draft Model Rules for Live-Streaming and Recording of Court Proceeding. The Committee has also invited suggestions from all the Stakeholder on or before 30 June, 2021.
Chairperson Dr. Justice DY Chandrachud has written to the Chief Justices of all High Courts, by requesting them to share their valuable inputs and suggestions for the better implementation of live- streaming of court proceedings across India.
The Rules are drafted to imbue greater transparency, inclusivity and foster access to justice, it is expedient to set up infrastructure and the framework to enable live-streaming and recording of Proceedings.
These Rules are framed by the High Court of Judicature in the exercise of powers under Article 225 or relevant statute where applicable, and Article 227 of the Constitution of India. These rules will be applicable to the High Courts and Tribunals over which it has supervisory jurisdiction.

The e-Committee is the governing body charged with overseeing the e-Courts Project conceptualized under the “National Policy and Action Plan for Implementation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the Indian Judiciary – 2005”. E-Courts is a pan India project monitored and funded by the Department of Justice, Government of India. Its vision is to transform the judicial system of the country by ICT enablement of Courts.
