The Minister of State for Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Mr. Kaushak Kishore informed Lok Sabha that the ongoing works at the Central Vista have provided direct livelihood opportunities to more than 10,000 skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled workers on site and off site and generated more than 24.12 lakh man days of employment. In addition, substantial employment in manufacturing and transportation of cement, steel and other building materials have been provided.
He replied to an Unstarred Question pertaining to the relevance of Construction of New Parliament Building and reconstruction of Central Vista Project in the Covid Pandemic while there is an urgent need of utilization of this huge amount for the well equipped health care system especially in the rural areas and the country is facing massive job loss, unemployment, poverty.
He further stated that The Redevelopment of Central Vista Master Plan was conceived in September 2019, many months earlier than the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic in India. These works of Development/ Re-development of Central Vista will contribute to the economy of the country and will help realize our resolve for Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
