Minister of Law & Justice Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal informed Lok Sabha that there is no complete proposal pending with the Government regarding shift the High Court of Andhra Pradesh from Amaravati to Kurnool.
He replied to an Unstarred Question that whether the Government has received any request to shift the High Court of Andhra Pradesh from Amaravati to Kurnool.
The Law Minister also stated that High Court of Andhra Pradesh with principal seat at Amaravati was established under Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014 and has been functioning w.e.f. 01.01.2019. The Chief Minister, Andhra Pradesh in February, 2020 has proposed for shifting of principal seat of Andhra Pradesh High Court from Amaravati to Kurnool. Shifting of Principal Seat of High Court is decided by the State Government in consultation with the concerned High Court.
