Shri Ashwin Vaishnav, Minister for Communication informed Lok Sabha that Spectrum for 5G technology trial has been assigned to various Telecom Service Providers (TSPs), as per their request for the desired locations in the country. These locations include urban, semi-urban and rural areas in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh (East) and Punjab Licensed Service Areas (LSAs).
The Minister replied to an Unstarred question stated that whether the Government has allocated spectrum to communication companies for 5G testing in selected States in the country.
Recently, Delhi High Court had dismissed the petition filed by Bollywood actor Juhi Chawla against the roll-out of 5G technology in India as “defective” and done for “media publicity”.
