The efforts to financially assist Advocates in wake of COVID -19 pandemic has been going on ever since the Lockdown. Bar Councils and Bar Associations across the Nation have been collecting Relief Funds.
In that view, today, Chief Justice of Telangana HC, Raghvendra Singh Chauhan, has released financial assistance to Advocates and Clerks in need who were found eligible under the scheme via e-payment in the presence of Advocate General, Banda Shivananda Prasad, & HC Registrars.
The Trust has received a total of 14,166 and 1,029 applications from the Advocates and Advocates Clerk respectively.
The Committee in accordance to the collection then has decided to grant an amount of ₹10,000 to each Advocate and ₹5,000 to each Advocate Clerk as an assistance in the prevailing lockdown as the effect of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Telangana Government has on its own decided to financially aid needy Advocates and Advocates Clerks and sanctioned ₹25 crore for the same and ₹15 crore was immediately released to the Law Department.
The Telangana Advocates Welfare Trust has been formed under the guidance of Chief Justice and a Committee was constituted with Advocate General, Chairman, Bar Council and the Law Secretary.
