Recently, the Central Government appointed Justice Vibhu Bakhru as the Acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court, succeeding Chief Justice Manmohan following his elevation to the Supreme Court. Justice Bakhru, born in 1966 in Nagpur, completed his early education at Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, New Delhi. He earned his Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from Delhi University in 1987 and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1989. Afterwards, he pursued a law degree, obtaining his LL.B in 1990, and enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in the same year.

Justice Bakhru began his legal career with a strong practice across various forums, including the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court, Company Law Board, and other tribunals. He was designated a Senior Advocate in July 2011. His judicial career began when he was appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court on April 17, 2013, and was later made a permanent judge on March 18, 2015.
