The Calcutta High Court has decided to extend the validity of all interim orders passed by the High Court and courts subordinate to it, including the Tribunals within West Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, till September 15, 2021, in view of the surge in COVID cases in West Bengal.
The Full Bench, comprising of Acting Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal, Justice IP Mukerjee, Justice Harish Tandon, Justice Soumen Sen and Justice Subrata Talukdar held that “In view of the extension of restrictions relating to the Covid-19 pandemic by the Government of West Bengal till August 30, 2021, we extend the interim orders passed in this Writ Petition till September 15, 2021.”
The Court also directed the Registry to publish the order on the official website of this Court and also communicate to the Courts subordinate to this Court and all Tribunals; learned Advocate General; learned Additional Solicitor General; and the Presidents and Secretaries of the three wings of the Bar in this Court with a request to circulate the same among lawyers, litigants and other interested.
The Court has listed the matter on September 13, 2021.
