March,12,2016: The BCCI had lately submitted to the Supreme Court, its response to the Lodha Committee report.
While acknowledging that the cricket body has "benefitted greatly from the Report of the Lodha Committee," the BCCI assured the court that it is committed to implement the changes and reforms suggested by the panel.
However, the BCCI raised objections to some of the recommendations.
If the Supreme Court insists on the age and tenure limits recommended by Justice Lodha, almost all state units would see the end of many despised administrators.
The Indian cricket board (BCCI) has launched last-ditch efforts to somehow thwart the Supreme Court from bringing transparency into its functioning. The BCCI’s act of injured innocence — claiming they’re being hounded despite putting India on the world map — is cutting no ice with the knowledgeable judges. They seem intent on ensuring that the Lodha Committee recommendations are implemented in law and its spirit.
Cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi said, 'I am not surprised that the BCCI is shell-shocked by the Lodha Committee recommendations, and insisting that they are difficult to implement. The BCCI operates behind an iron curtain. The Supreme Court judges rightly feel that all the stakeholders of the game have the right to know about the activities of the BCCI, including its finances. They have told the BCCI to file an affidavit showing how its funds have been spent over the last five years, including Rs 480 crores in 2014. This is the right approach. In the DDCA, we have seen how money is regularly siphoned off'.
