The Lucknow bench of Allahabad high court has praised the Yogi government for prompt action against those involved in manufacture and sale of country liquor in the aftermath of the Aligarh hooch tragedy.
The bench, however, asked the government to frame guidelines, if not already issued, to ensure a complete clampdown on illicit liquor.
Petitioner lawyer S K Singh had sought a probe into all hooch tragedies since 2000 and action against government officials involved in Aligarh tragedy.
The government counsel told court that several FIRs were lodged, 222 accused were arrested and charge-sheets filed in cases after Aligarh. The petitioner failed to produce evidence against government officials involved.
