                          JUDGMENT

Petitioner has challenged election of respondent no. 1 as Pradhan of Gram Sabha Naugaon, Block Sahaspur, District Haridwar by filing an Election Petition before Prescribed Authority/ S.D.M., Vikasnagar, Dehradun. The said Election Petition is numbered as 01 of 2020. By means of this writ petition, petitioner has sought a direction to the Court concerned to expedite hearing of the Election Petition.

2. Learned counsel for the petitioner has apprised the Court that notice of the Election Petition has been served upon the returned candidate and he assures the Court that petitioner shall take all possible steps to effect service upon other respondents, if already not served, within two weeks.

3. Since the Election Petition was filed by the petitioner in the month of January, 2020 and more than eighteen months have gone by, therefore, the writ petition is disposed of with a request of Prescribed Authority/S.D.M., Vikasnagar, Dehradun to hear & decide Election Petition No. 01 of 2020 as early as possible, preferably within a period of one year from the date of production of certified copy of this order. It is made clear that any unnecessary adjournment shall be avoided.
