Order
23/05/2024
1. At the very outset, it is submitted by learned counsel for the
petitioners that the controversy raised by the petitioners herein is
no more res-integra in view of the judgment rendered by the
Hon'ble Supreme Court in the case of State of Punjab & Ors.
Vs. Jagjit Singh & Ors. (2017) 1 SCC 148. He submits that the
petitioners may be permitted to file representation qua the
grievance raised in the present writ petition and the respondents
may be directed to decide the same within a reasonable time.
2. In view of the aforesaid submissions, without commenting on
merits of the case, the writ petition is disposed of with a liberty to
the petitioners to file a representation, which shall be gone into by
the competent authority and decide the same, in accordance with
law, keeping in view the observations made in the judgment ibid,
as expeditiously as possible.
3. Pending applications, if any, shall also stand disposed of.
