1. The petitioners herein seek that their date of enlistment as Constable be

brought at par with the date when SPOs junior to the petitioners were

enlisted as Constable on out of turn basis. The petitioners also pray for grant

of other consequential benefits.

2. It has been submitted that the case of the petitoners is fully covered by a

judgment dated 16.3.2023 passed by this court in CWP-5648-2017 titled as

Sukhmander Singh and others Vs. State of Punjab and others (Annexure P-

4).

3. Notice of motion.

4. At this stage, on the asking of this Court Mr. Inderpreet Singh Kang, AAG,

Punjab who is present in the Court accepts notice. Learned State counsel

submits that the case of the petitioners shall be considered in accordance

with law and since they have already sent a legal notice dated 13.6.2023

(Annexure P-5) and the same has not been decided, some direction may be

issued at this stage for expeditious disposal of the legal notice.

5. In view of the aforesaid submission, the instant petition is disposed of with a

direction to respondent No.2-the Director General of Police, Punjab, to get

the legal notice dated 13.6.2023 (Annexure P-5) examined in accordance

with law and the ratio of judgment dated 16.3.2023 (Annexure P-4), so that

the same is disposed off expeditiously preferably within a period of 6 months

from today.

6. A copy of this order along with copy of legal notice dated 13.6.2023

(Annexure P-5) be sent to respondent No. 2-the Director General of Police,

Punjab for getting the needful done.
