05. 1. Ms. Mohanty, learned advocate appears on behalf of petitioner
and submits, impugned is judgment dated 22nd April, 2018 passed by
the Permanent Lok Adalat (PLA). She submits, the PLA, without
resorting to the mechanism for settlement provided under section 22C
in Legal Services Authorities Act, 1987, embarked on adjudication.
2. Mr. Sharma, learned advocate, Additional Government
Advocate appears on behalf of opposite party no.1(PLA) and relies on
judgment of the Supreme Court in M.S.Kazi vs. Muslim Education
Society reported in (2016) 9 SCC 263 to submit, declaration of law is
that the PLA is not required to defend itself.
