                                JUDGMENT

The petitioners contend that they are included in the rank list for

selection of Sweeper cum Cleaner Post, conducted in the year 2018 by the

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). They contend that

even prior to the expiry of the rank list, 30 vacancies arose to the post of

Office Attendant. They contend that only 15 vacancies out of 30 have been

filled up to date and 15 substantive vacancies are also to be filled up. In

the said circumstances, they are stated to have submitted a detailed

representation before the 3rd respondent, which is stated to be pending.

2. When the matter came up for consideration, Sri. K.S. Arunkumar,

the learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the limited

prayer at this stage is for issuance of a direction to the 3rd respondent, for

expeditious consideration of Exhibit P3.

3. I have also heard Sri. S.P. Aravindakshan Pillai, the learned

Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

4. After having carefully evaluated the contentions raised in this writ

petition, the submissions made across the Bar and the facts and

circumstances, I am of the view that this writ petition can be disposed of at WP(C) NO. 8147 OF 2022

the admission stage itself by issuing the following directions:

a) Without expressing any opinion on the merits of the assertions made in Exhibit P3, there will be a direction to the 3rd respondent to take up, consider and pass appropriate orders on Ext. P3, as per procedure and strictly in adherence to the provisions of law, after affording an opportunity of being heard, either physically or virtually, to the petitioners herein or their authorised representatives.

b) Orders, as directed above, shall be passed expeditiously, in any event, within a period of two months from the date of production of a copy of this judgment.

c) It would be open to the petitioners to produce a copy of the writ petition along with the judgment before the concerned respondent for further action.

This writ petition is disposed of.
