Chief Executive Officer, Maharashtra Cricket Association. We had also asked, Mr. Hezefa Ahmedi, the learned senior counsel appearing for the Electoral Officer, Maharashtra Cricket Association as regards induction of new numbers and rejection of the objection by an order dated 29th December 2025.
3. The matter was adjourned to be taken up after the recess on a request made by Ms. Dixita Gohil, the learned assisting counsel to Dr. Abhishek Manu Singhvi, the learned senior counsel appearing for the Maharashtra Cricket Association.
4. After the recess, we have heard Dr. Abhinav Chandrachud, the learned counsel. We have also briefly heard Mr. Venkatesh Dhond, the learned senior counsel.
5. We have heard Dr. Abhishek Singhvi, the learned senior counsel who has taken us through the Rules and Regulations, pleadings by the parties and some judgments.
6. After hearing the rival submissions and perusing the materials on record, we have formed an opinion that interference by this Court with the election process published on the website of the Maharashtra Cricket Association on 23 rd December 2025 is necessary. Therefore, we issue a direction to the Electoral Officer represented through Mr. Huzefa Ahmedi, the learned senior counsel not to proceed with the election of the Maharashtra Cricket Association scheduled on 6th January 2026, the schedule for which was published on 23rd December 2025 in any manner whatsoever, without leave of the Court or till the next date of hearing.
7. On account of paucity of time and other administrative engagements of one of us (Chief Justice), the order shall be dictated in the Chambers and made available to the parties by 10:00 a.m. tomorrow.
