This contempt application has been filed alleging that the order dated 22.1.2016 passed in Writ C No. 2740 of 2016 has been violated.

From the order dated 22.1.2016, it appears that the applicant had approached the Writ Court contending that she is the owner and landlord of the premises in question which was let out to the respondent no. 5 and that she did not want that the respondent no. 5 should be given an electricity connection. On the aforesaid contention, the writ petition was disposed of with liberty to the applicant to approach the competent authority and move an application, who was required to consider and decide the same in accordance with law.

Upon query by the Court as to whether the respondent no. 5 in the writ petition was granted electricity connection or not, learned counsel for the applicant informed the Court that the electricity connection was granted to the said respondent in the year 2012 itself. If that is so, the prayer for the applicant ought to have been for disconnection of electricity connection but the said prayer was not made before the Writ Court.

Under the circumstances, this Court does not find it to be a fit case to entertain the contempt application. The contempt application is consigned to the record with liberty to the applicant to take recourse to appropriate legal remedies as may be available to her under the law.
