Armed Forces Tribunal is a military tribunal in India. It was established under the Armed Forces Tribunal Act, 2007. In 1999, the Law Commission’s 169th report stated that disciplinary and service matters required quick resolutions and proposed a special tribunal for the military and paramilitary forces.

 

About the Job Opportunity

Applications are invited from the Indian citizens who fulfill the following requisite qualifications and other eligibility criteria for preparing a panel for engagement of five Law Researchers in the Armed Forces Tribunal, Principal Bench.

 

Remuneration

Consolidated monthly remuneration of Rs. 50,000/-

 

Eligibility

  • Educational Qualification: Law graduate having a Bachelor Degree in Law (including Integrated Degree Course in Law) with 50% minimum marks from any College/University established by law in India and recognized by the Bar Council of India for enrolment as an Advocate (preference will be given to those who possesses the LL.M Degree).
  • Competencies: The candidate must have the knowledge of retrieval of desired information from various search engines/processes such as SCC On-line, Manupatra, etc.
  • Age Limit: The candidate must not be below the age of23 years and not above 35 years ofage as on the last date of receipt of applications.

 

Duties and Functions of Law Researcher

Law Researcher will be attached to the Hon’ble Chairperson/Hon’ble Members of the Armed Forces Tribunal. Besides, they would be required to undertake the duties and responsibilities as under:

  • Sitting in the Court during hearing of matters and noting down important points, as per the requirement of the Hon’ble Chairperson, Members;
  • Carrying out research work for assisting the Hon’ble Chairperson/Members; and
  • Perform any other judicial/legal work, as may be assigned by the Hon’ble Chairperson/Members.

 

Duration of Engagement

1 year, which will be extendable by another one year, subject to their previous years’ performance.

The selected candidates will not be allowed to practice as Advocates in any court during the period of their engagement in the Tribunal.

The eligible candidates are advised te download the application form from the website of the Tribunal – www.aftdlehi.nic. n and submit the same in hard copy to the Principal Registrar, Armed Forces Tribunal (Principal Bench), West Block VIII, Sector I, R.K Puram, New Delhi-110066, super-scribing on the envelope ‘Engagement of Law Researcher‘, by post/by hand along with copies of necessary documents duly self-attested by the candidate, on or before December 21, 2021.

If eligible, they will be called for an interview as and when the requirement arises at the Tribunal.

Original testimonials need not be enclosed. The originals shall, however, be required to be produced at the time of interview/interaction.

Incomplete applications and applications received after the due date will be summarily rejected and no further correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

No TA/DA shall be paid to the candidates for appearing in the interview.

 

Selection Process

Law Researcher will be selected by the Chairperson or a Committee constituted by the Hon’ble Chairperson of the Tribunal by way of interview/interaction and other necessary verification.

If the applications received is large in number, the selection will be made through written examination.
