The Delhi High Court has issued notice on a plea filed by the children of actor Karisma Kapoor, seeking a share in the estate of their late father, Sunjay Kapur. Justice Jyoti Singh directed Priya Kapur, Sunjay Kapur’s third wife and principal defendant, to furnish a complete list of his movable and immovable assets as of June 12, after allegations that the will produced in her favour was forged.
During the hearing, the Court questioned Priya Kapur’s reluctance to provide a copy of the disputed will to the children. Justice Singh remarked that confidentiality concerns could be addressed through a non-disclosure agreement or a confidentiality club, as is often done in intellectual property matters.
According to the suit, the plaintiffs, represented through their mother Karisma Kapoor, alleged that they were unlawfully excluded from the estate following Sunjay Kapur’s sudden death in June in the United Kingdom. They contend that Priya Kapur, with the help of two associates, withheld and later produced a will dated March 21, 2025, which bequeaths the entire estate solely to her. The plaintiffs argue that the document is fabricated and surrounded by suspicious circumstances, as neither the original nor a copy has been made available to them.
The defendants in the matter include Priya Kapur, her minor son, her mother Rani Kapur, and the alleged executor of the will, Shradha Suri Marwah. The children have accused Priya Kapur of attempting to usurp full control over the estate to their exclusion.
As relief, the plaintiffs have sought a declaration recognizing them as Class I legal heirs, partition of the estate granting them one-fifth share each, and interim orders freezing all assets of the deceased.
The matter has been posted for further hearing on October 9, when the Court will consider the plea for interim injunction.
