The Bombay High Court has issued an ultimatum to actor Armaan Kohli, stating that he must pay Rs 50 lakh to his former girlfriend, Neeru Randhawa, as a settlement in the 2018 assault case or face imprisonment.

The court made this ruling after Randhawa approached the high court seeking a recall of a previous order that quashed the FIR registered against Kohli and released him from Arthur Road Prison.

The assault case dates back to June 3, 2018, when Neeru Randhawa was allegedly subjected to a brutal attack by Armaan Kohli. She claimed that he had pushed her down a flight of stairs and banged her head against the floor, resulting in severe injuries that required 15 sutures. Initially, an FIR was filed, and Kohli was arrested. However, a settlement was reached between the parties, with Kohli providing a demand draft of Rs 50 lakh as a full and final settlement. Additionally, it was agreed that Randhawa would receive another Rs 50 lakh after the proceedings concluded.

As part of the settlement, two additional cheques of Rs 50 lakh each were tendered by Kohli's lawyer, and signed by Kohli's brother. However, these cheques were dishonoured, leading Randhawa to approach the court again, seeking to revive the case against Kohli.

During the court proceedings, Randhawa's lawyer presented evidence that Kohli had sent a notice to his own lawyer, alleging that the cheques were obtained through fraud and that he never intended to honour them. Kohli's lawyer argued that the actor's elderly parents rely on him and presented an affidavit from a friend vouching for the same.

In response, the court directed Kohli's lawyer to ensure that Kohli makes a decision regarding the payment and conveys it to the court by July 18. Failure to comply with the court's order could result in imprisonment for the actor.
