On Monday, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said, a new family court complex will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 120 crore in the city.
The structure, to be built next to Bangalore Mediation Center on Siddaiah Road, will have 13 floors & 3 lakh sqft built-up area. A six-storied structure will be constructed at the old Election Commission building for Rs 20 crore, which will be utilised by the HC as its Administrative Complex.

Yediyurappa made these announcements after inaugurating the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court complex Phase 1.

Efforts are on to dispose of 36,400 cases which are more than 10 years old, said Chief justice Abhay Shreeniwas Oka.

More public prosecutors should be appointed as 17,000 of the 10-year-old cases are criminal ones, he added.
