The dimensions of the note will be 66 mm × 142 mm.

Today, the Reserve Bank of India announced that a new 100 rupee will be released.

The lavender colour note, is part of the new Mahatma Gandhi Series & will be signed by the RBI governor Dr. Urjit R. Patel.

To promote India's rich cultural heritage, the note has a motif of 'Rani ki Vav', an archaeological site in Gujarat built in the 11th century.

The motif is found on the backside of the new note, with the Swachh Bharat logo beside it, according to a press release issued by the central bank.

The dimensions of the note will be 66 mm × 142 mm.

The date of the release hasn't been specified.

The Mahatma Gandhi New Series were initially announced in November 2016, following the demonetisation of ₹500 & ₹1000 note of the original Mahatma Gandhi Series.

The RBI had first released ₹500 & ₹2000 which have been in circulation since November 10th, 2016.
