Safeer Karim now also faces dismissal from the force because he was still under probation.
Safeer Karim, an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer on probation, was allegedly caught cheating in the civil services test being conducted at Presidency Girls Higher Secondary School in Chennai on Monday.
He has been arrested, faces dismissal from the force because he was still under probation when incident occurred.
Assistant Superintendent of Police posted at Tirunelveli, Karim wanted to rise up in ranks and join Indian Administrative Service.
Alleged fraud was detected while he was appearing for main civil services examinations.
Accused was using a Bluetooth device to procure answers from his wife during the general studies test when he was caught by Union Public Service Commission squad.
He has been booked for cheating under Indian Penal Code as well as the relevant Sections of IT Act,2003.
Karim successfully cleared Civil Services Examination in 2014. He was undergoing training at the Nanguneri subdivision of Tirunelveli.
