Thuraiyur Police have arrested N. Muthusamy, 67, & his son M. Chandrakumar, 44, on the charge of murdering T. Prabhakaran, 33, - who was a bachelor. The murder was committed in the house of the victim at Venkatathanur village near Thuraiyur.

A 33-year-old man who was suspected to have had an extra marital relationship with a married woman was set ablaze to death allegedly by the woman’s husband & father-in-law in Thuraiyur police station limits in the early hours on Sunday.

Thuraiyur Police have arrested N. Muthusamy, 67, & his son M. Chandrakumar, 44, on the charge of murdering T. Prabhakaran, 33, - who was a bachelor. The murder was committed in the house of the victim at Venkatathanur village near Thuraiyur.

According to police, Prabhakaran, said to be an alcoholic, was in an extra-marital relationship for nearly four years with the wife of Chandrakumar - a lorry driver. Prabhakaran & the woman were residing in group houses close by in the same village. Prabhakaran & his father-in-law who came to know about the alleged had been warning the woman.

On Sunday, when Prabhakaran was fast asleep under the influence of alcohol in his house, he was set afire by the accused who poured kerosene over him.

Sources said Chandrakumar thereafter raised an alarm to divert it as an accidental fire. On receipt of information, police personnel rushed to the spot & found the charred body of Prabhakaran. Detailed enquiries led to the arrest of Chandrakumar & Muthusamy who were remanded on Monday. The Thuraiyur Police have registered a case of murder.
