October 19,2017:
In yet another fatwa Muslim women were banned from plucking, trimming and shaping their eyebrows.
The recent fatwa issued by Darul Uloom Deoband which bans Muslims from posting pictures on social media sites got support from Muslim cleric Mufti Mukkaram.
Based in Uttar Pradesh's Saharanpur district, Darul Uloom Deoband, is one of the largest Islamic seminaries in India.
Occasion to issue the Fatwa arose when a person submitted a written question to the Fatwa department, Darul Iftaa asking as to whether posting pictures of oneself or his wife on Social Media like Facebook and Whatsapp was un-Islamic or not.
Mufti commented that in Islam clicking picture with useless intention is totally illegal.
Mukkaram added that if a picture is clicked to be used in Passport, Aadhaar Card and other useful documentations it ok but for useless things such as to upload in social media it is not right.
Darul Iftaa issues the Darul Uloom Deoband pronounced that Muslim men and women should not post pictures of themselves or their family members on social media, adding that the act is un-Islamic.
Few days ago on October 9, the seminary had issued another similar fatwa banning Muslim women from plucking, trimming and shaping their eyebrows.
