The Govt of Karnataka has made home quarantine for 7 days mandatory for passengers arriving at Bengaluru airport from 6 countries -China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore & Thailand.

The Centre had already made RT-PCR tests a must for flyers from these designated high-risk countries.

As per the state's revised guidelines, passengers arriving from these nations will be verified for Covid-negative status before being allowed to leave the airport premises. The guidelines further state that if any of the international passengers from these countries are found symptomatic, they shall be immediately isolated & transferred to the designated medical facility (government or private), & samples should be collected & submitted for RT-PCR testing & genome sequencing, if they test positive.

The guidelines read, "Other asymptomatic passengers shall leave the airport & self-monitor their health for Covid symptoms & comply with Covid appropriate behaviour (CAB) like wearing of face masks, social distancing, practice respiratory & hand hygiene, etc, & strictly remain under home quarantine for next seven days".

If they develop symptoms like fever, cough, cold, body ache, loss of taste & smell, diarrhoea & breathing difficulty, they should self-isolate & report to the local surveillance team for testing. In case the genome sequencing report is BF.7 (after seven days) or a new sub variant/variant, then another sample is to be taken for RT-PCR & the person shall follow CAB until the results are known, it further said.
