A few days ago, a man in Melbourne drove 32 km from his home to the main city in search of Butter Chicken. By doing so, he violated the city's lockdown rules & was slapped with a fine of $1,652.
The man, who has not been named, drove from Werribee that is 32 km west of Melbourne. Unfortunately, he could never make it to the restaurant & ended up being caught by the Cops.
People were both shocked & amused at the same time when learned about the man’s craving. Netizens, especially Indians, were quick to react to the story. One user said, "If it was nice butter chicken, I would probably do the same."
Another one poked fun by saying, "The highest bill for a plate for a butter chicken."
The man's craving was left unfulfilled on the day. But the restaurant he was travelling to has now decided to make an incredible offer.
Tonka Melbourne is now on the hunt for the man & is offering to deliver him a few curries to 'soften' the fine blow he recently suffered.
The restaurant posted a picture on Instagram with a simple question - 'Who is Mr Butter Chicken?'
Tonka Melbourne captioned the pos, “Guys, help! We need to find Mr Butter Chicken...Anyone got a lead? & if so, how would we know he was the real deal? We want to deliver him a few curries to soften the blow. All we know is that he lives in Werribee, he got fined $1,652.00 & had called earlier to ask about delivery to Werribee which we couldn’t do until Wednesday. But how good is Butter Chicken?"
In another post, the Restaurant wrote that the man's lockdown violation penalty of $1,652 is the price of 61 Butter Chickens.
Tonka Restaurent wrote, "$1,652.00 works out to be 61 Butter Chickens, which equals free butter chicken for life. We absolutely do not condone any illegal activity, especially related to COVID but f**k this gave us well needed laugh".
The butter chicken craving man was one of the 74 people who violated lockdown rules & issued fines in a 24 hour period over the weekend.
According to The Weekend Australian, around 13,000 vehicles were checked at various points 24 hours after the new regulations were announced.
