District Development Fellowship (DDF) by Govt. of Punjab and Ashoka University [Rs. 8L/Annum]: Apply by June 15

DDF is a strategic collaboration between the Government of Punjab and Ashoka University to engage young professionals in supporting the Department of Governance Reforms and Public Grievances. The fellows will get an opportunity to work in one of the assigned districts for a year, while also receiving mentorship and professional development from the government officers and the program team at DDF.

DDF will provide an opportunity for 23 young professionals to work on large scale governance reforms, strengthen existing initiatives and make a real-time impact in Punjab and resolve some of the most pressing issues in the state, through process re-engineering.

Eligibility

  • You have a bachelor’s degree with at least 2 year of work experience OR you have a postgraduate degree or diploma in any discipline.
  • You are not more than 29 years of age as on 10th Aug 2020. (i.e. not born before 10th Aug 1991).
  • You hold Indian citizenship.
  • You are proficient in both Hindi and English, with the ability to read and write in both along with a working knowledge of Punjabi.
  • Passion for driving development through government reforms

Roles and responsibilities of a District Development Fellow

  1. Monitoring and supporting the key initiatives of the Department of Governance Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of Punjab

  2. Improving transparency, efficiency, and service delivery across different schemes and departments

  3. Facilitating coordination and dialogue between various stakeholders of the district for inter-sectoral convergence

  4. Streamlining the district-level implementation of process re-engineering initiatives originating at the state level

  5. Supporting Deputy Commissioners in research, adaptation, and implementation of successful administrative practices at the district level.

  6. Prepare and share regular progress updates (monthly and weekly) with the Department of Governance Reforms and the Programme Team.

Please note that the Fellows will not take up any type of employment or educational opportunity with any other person, firm or any other agency during the tenure of the program.

Duration and Location

The duration of the programme is one year during which all the associates will be posted in one of the 22 districts of Punjab. The Fellows will be working at the district headquarters of their assigned districts, and travel to various locations within the district or at the state headquarters (Chandigarh) as and when required.

Remuneration

Associates will receive a stipend of Rs. 8,00,000 per annum, inclusive of any programme related expenses such as telephone, internet, printing, stationery, etc. Applicable taxes will be deducted at source from this amount.
