About India Policy Forum

An initiative to bring diverse policy voices on a common platform at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Their vision is to build a strong Indian community at LSE which will provide students with an opportunity to interact and learn about policies from the experts in the fields through hosting a range of Talk shows and Events throughout the academic session.

About the Competition

India Policy Forum is organizing an International Essay Writing Competition on Manuscripts: Guardians of Democracy and Socio-Legal Progress.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to graduate and Ph.D. students from any country.
  • Participants must be currently enrolled in a recognized university or institution.
  • Submissions must be in English.

Topic

The essay topic is “Manuscripts: Guardians of Democracy and Socio-Legal Progress.” Participants should explore the role of manuscripts in preserving democratic values, promoting socio-legal progress, and their significance in the modern world.

Submission Guidelines

  • Word Limit and Format:
    • The essay should be between 1500 and 2000 words, excluding references.
    • Submissions must be typed, using a standard font (e.g., Times New Roman or Arial), with a 12-point font size and double-spaced.
    • Citations and references should follow a recognized academic referencing style (e.g., APA, MLA, Harvard).
  • Originality and Plagiarism:
    • Essays must be original work and should not have been previously published.
    • Plagiarism, including copying from published sources without proper citation, will result in disqualification.
    • Proper referencing of sources is essential. Failure to do so will result in a lower score.
  • Intellectual Property:
    • By participating in the competition, participants grant the National Mission for Manuscripts, India Policy Forum, LSE SU India Forum, and King’s South Asia Policy and Development Forum the right to publish or reproduce their essays, with proper attribution, for promotional and educational purposes.
    • Participants retain the copyright to their essays.

How to Submit?

  • Essays must be submitted via email to Indiapolicyforumuk@gmail.com.
  • The subject line of the email should be “Essay Competition Submission.”
  • The email must include the participant’s full name, institution, program of study, and contact information (email address and phone number).
  • The essay should be attached as a Microsoft Word document or in PDF format.

Evaluation Criteria

  • Essays will be evaluated based on originality, clarity of thought, depth of analysis, and adherence to the topic.
  • The judges’ decision will be final and binding.
  • The competition organizers reserve the right not to award a prize if the essays do not meet the required standard.

Submission Deadline

The last date for submission is July 30, 2023. Late entries will not be considered.

Prizes and Awards

  • The top three essays will receive cash prizes and certificates.
  • Winners will be notified via email and announced on the respective organization’s website and social media platforms.
