August 18,2018:
Since early August, NLUD has been offering nine of its subjects online as open source for candidates from all across the country. At least 5,500 students have so far enrolled for these free courses.
Students can remotely access texts and other materials and study the subjects through an interactive medium and can also participate in quizzes and periodic exams online.
NLU Delhi launched two interactive digital legal education projects Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and e-PG Pathshala following the Union HRD ministry’s directions.
According to NLU-D registrar G S Bajpai, “The students who stay in remote and farflung areas where good law colleges and quality reading materials are not available can access these courses.”
Some of these courses “are advance and new subjects in the law field like environmental law, information and communication technology, and intellectual property. These courses are essential for an all-round development in the legal field but sadly are not easy for students to study”, he added.
Under MOOC Programme, students can not only access courses but also take exams, participate in discussion forums, earn credits as per the UGC (credit framework for online courses through SWAYAM) Regulation 2016 and check their progress on the SWAYAM platform, said Bajpai, who is also its principal investigator.
Similarly, several thousand students have downloaded free e-text material for various PG courses on law & criminology under the e-PG Pathshala project.
These courses are also available free of cost.
NLUD Registrar stated that,"In all, 465 modules have been created for 16 law courses and 483 modules for 14 criminology courses by NLU-Delhi in collaboration with expert teachers from all over the country".
Courses will be available for enrolment from August to December every year.
