The conference will delve deeper into various facets of Digital Innovation and IPR, Climate Change and Green Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and Creativity, and Data Protection and Privacy, offering a comprehensive exploration of these dynamic fields.
Theme 1: Digital Innovation and IPR
With the rise of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things (IoT), there’s a growing need to adapt IPR frameworks to protect digital innovations. Issues such as data ownership, algorithmic transparency, and digital content piracy present new challenges for intellectual property law.
Theme 2: Climate Change and Green Technologies
As the world addresses climate change and transitions to a low-carbon economy, there’s increased focus on promoting innovation in green technologies such as renewable energy, energy storage, and sustainable agriculture. Intellectual property frameworks play a crucial role in incentivizing research and development in these areas while balancing the need for technology diffusion and accessibility.
Theme 3: Artificial Intelligence and Creativity
With the rise of AI-generated content, there are discussions about the attribution of authorship and copyright ownership in works produced by algorithms. Questions also arise regarding the liability for infringement and the ethical implications of AI in creative industries.
Theme 4: Data Protection and Privacy
The collection, use, and sharing of personal data in the digital economy raises concerns about privacy, data security, and individual rights. Emerging themes include the intersection of intellectual property rights with data protection regulations, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union, and the development of privacy- preserving technologies.
