In exercise of the powers under Sections 219(a), 227(2)(a) and 540 (1) of the Uttar Pradesh Nagar Mahapalika Adhiniyam, 1959 (U.P. Act No. II of 1959), the Governor is pleased to make the following Rules for specifying the octroi limits of the Nagar Mahapalika Gorakhpur after their previous publication with Government Notification No. 4026-B/XI-9-83-267-82, dated October 5, 1983 under sub-section (2) of Section 540 of the said Adhiniyam :

Short title and commencement.- (1) These Rules may be called 'the Gorakhpur Nagar Mahapalika Octroi Limits Rules, 1983'.

(2) They shall come into force with effect from the date of their publication in the Gazette.

Octroi limits.- The octroi limits of the Nagar Mahapalika Gorakhpur shall comprise the limits of the City of Gorakhpur as notified under Section 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Nagar Mahapalika Adhiniyam, 1959.
