An Act to extend the provisions of the Assam Opium (Amendment) Act, 1933 to Autonomous Districts.
Preamble. - Whereas the Assam Opium (Amendment) Act, 1933 (Act 1 of 1933) is not in force in the Autonomous Districts where the Opium Act, 1878 (Act 1 of 1878) is in force ;
And whereas it is expedient to bring the provisions of the said Act into force in the said districts ;
It is hereby enacted in the Fifth Year of the Republic of India as follows :
- Short title, extent and commencement.- (1) This Act may called the Assam Opium Amendment (Autonomous Districts) Act, 1954.
(2) It extends to the District of Kohima and Mokokchung in the State of Nagaland, where the Opium Act, 1878 (Act 1 of 1878) is in force.
(3) It shall come into force at once.
- Application of the Assam Act 1 of 1933 to Autonomous Districts.- All the provisions of the Assam Opium (Amendment) Act, 1933 (Act 1 of 1933) shall apply to the Autonomous Districts in the State of Assam to which this Act extends.
