February 15, 2019:

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleges Torch is deceptively similar to its broom symbol.

The Delhi high court on Thursday restrained a newly formed political outfit, Aapki Apni Party from publicly displaying its symbol of a torch.

In an interim order, HC said till the next date of hearing the fledgling party should not use the symbol, which the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleges is deceptively similar to its broom symbol & fears this could lead to voters getting confused.

HC said on the next date of hearing it will take up the issue of similarity of party initials & the symbol allotted to the party.

The court's interim direction came on a plea filed by the Aam Aadmi Party seeking orders to restrain AAP (Peoples) from using torch as its election symbol.

The capital's ruling party had earlier approached the court against the poll panel's decision to reject its objections against registration of the 'Aapki Apni Party' on several grounds.
